We are looking for a Global Storytelling Intern, Protect Oceans, Lands and Waters to fill a full-time, paid, remote 10-week internship beginning on Monday, June 2. Location is flexible to anywhere within the US.

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Global Storytelling Intern will be responsible for researching and writing content that showcases Protect Oceans, Lands and Waters strategies and the people who make conservation possible. The Intern will do research, conduct interviews and write/edit original profiles that feature regional examples of conservation, science and partnership and engage audiences around the world. The Intern will report to the Communications Manager for Protect Oceans, Lands and Waters as part of the Global Marketing and Communications team.

As the Global Storytelling Intern, you will:

  • Conduct background research and interviews
  • Craft compelling narratives of people, science and conservation
  • Bring to life the work of people advancing critical progress toward ambitious climate and biodiversity goals


WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

We are looking for a Global Storytelling Intern to fill a paid 10-week summer internship. The intern can be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate. This position is home-based in the United States and will provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and real-world work. We offer an orientation, professional networking opportunities, and real-world work experience.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • HS diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (or recent graduate) with demonstrated interest and experience in journalism, narrative nonfiction or science writing. 2-3 writing samples required.
  • Experience/interest in global conservation topics or initiatives
  • Proven ability to write and communicate effectively, with experience in story research, narrative nonfiction, journalism, science writing, and editing.
  • Proficiency in applying organizational skills and attention to detial with reviewing and producing high-quality work.
  • Skilled in translating complex strategies into engaging and meaningful narratives
  • Access to a reliable internet connection

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Coursework and/or exposure to writing/journalism/science writing and ecology/conservation/social ecology
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, asks questions and seeks input

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

This is a full-time, remote, temporary internship position with a 10-week term of June 2 to August 8, 2025.

INTERN SELECTION PROCESS

  • Applications will be screened for eligibility, qualifications and experience level related to the Internship

  • Additional information may be required before making a final decision
  • All applicants will be notified of final selection by April 30.


SALARY INFORMATION

The pay for a candidate selected for this position is $17/hr.
