Description
This course is designed to prepare the student to take the American Academy of Professional Coders CPC certification examination. Medical coding is a profession that offers a wide range of career opportunities, both inpatient and outpatient, across various healthcare facilities, third-party payers, private physician settings, and even self-employment. With the increasing popularity of home-based career options with flexible work hours, many facilities now offer more employment opportunities for remote work. This trend is expected to expand further with the rising use of electronic medical records and the demand for health information technician jobs. Healthcare providers require the expertise of medical coders who can maximize reimbursements as they face ever-decreasing reimbursements. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts a 13% increase in medical records and health information technician jobs by 2026, resulting in over 27,800 new positions between 2016 and 2026.
